A charmingly illustrated copy of Edward Hugessen Knatchbull-Hugessen's (1829- 1893) Moonshine, a collection of fairy stories for children. Although scarce mentioned today, Knatchbull-Hugessen wrote an estimated 12 to 15 collections of 'faery' stories, illustrated by some preeminent artists of the period, to great commercial success. This edition, illustrated by William Brunton, was gifted from Stopford Brooke to his daughter Honor at age 10 as a Christmas present. From the volume's condition, we can assume it was much-loved.
