The first edition of a guide to 'camp life' from Henry Astbury Leveson (1828-1875), sportsman and Big Game hunter. Leveson, who wrote under the pseudonym 'The Old Shekarry', honed his hunting skills across nine years in India after receiving a commission in the East India Company's service. He would later volunteer in the Crimean war, commanding a Turkish regiment. This volume advises the reader on hunting 'fiercer denizens of the forest', covering the weaponry, clothing, and camping supplies necessary.
