Original publisher's blind-stamped green cloth, lettered in gilt. Lightly rubbed and marked, chipping to head and foot of dulled spines.
The first edition of a field guide to British trees by the Rev. Charles Alexander Johns (1811–1874), noted botanist and educator. In two volumes, and complete with a multitude of engravings, the books cover the life cycle of a wide range of trees and shrubs.
