Included amongst this selection of largely devotional verse - some better known than others - are Gray's 'Elegy Written in a Country Church-Yard' and Shenstone's 'Elegy on the African Slaves', alongside an anonymous poem titled 'Reflections by a Clergyman in Virginia, returning home from his Duty in a very gloomy Night.'
