Rubbed, marked, and heavily sunned, head of spine chipped, lower joint split. Hinges exposed, ticket of booksellers May of Taunton and recent bookplate of John Fowles to FEP, scattered spotting.
The enlarged third edition of Facetiae Cantabrigiensis by Richard Gooch (1791-1849), a satirist known for his works centred around the traditions of Cambridge, where he resided. The volume contains many 'facetious and richly-spiced anecdotes', collected under Gooch's pseudonym, Socius.
