An early edition of the collected poetry of Sir William Jones (1746-1794), including a lengthy biography by the editor. Jones, a renowned philologist, orientalist, and scholar of ancient India, was described by Melville in Moby-Dick as having 'read in thirty languages', although, more accurately, his critical study only extended to eight.
