8vo.
xii, [4], 107pp, [5]. With two terminal leaves of publisher's advertisements. Unopened in original publisher's printed blue paper boards. Lightly rubbed and marked, spine dulled. Scattered spotting.
A facsimile copy of Shelley's verse drama The Cenci, published by the Shelley Society. Shelley's 'Roman' play, inspired by the real House Cenci, tells the tragic story of a villainous, incestuous Italian Count, and his resulting death at the hands of his daughter, Beatrice. Considered controversial for its themes of incest and parricide, it was the only work of Shelley's to enter a second edition before his death.
