The first edition of William Howitt's (1792-1879) calendar of the natural year, recounting the changes in the outside world throughout the seasons. Howitt, alongside his wife Mary, would write indefatigably throughout his life, with his later history Colonization and Christianity (1838) quoted approvingly by Karl Marx in Capital, Volume I.
