A Parisian edition of Sir Walter Scott's (1771-1832) historical novel centred on a kidnapped heir returning to his stolen lands; the second title in the Waverley Novels series. Published anonymously, the novel was an immense hit, with the first edition (1815) sold out on its very first day of publication.
