The first edition of this religious argument by George Whitehead (1636-1723), early Quaker leader who lobbied for religious freedom and was frequently jailed as a result. This volume is a response to George Keith (1638/9-1716), Quaker turned Anglican who believed Quakers had strayed too far from orthodox Christianity. The resulting schism led to Keith being disowned by London Yearly Meeting in 1694.
