The first Irish edition of these collected works by English poet Richard Savage (1697-1743), best known as the subject of Samuel Johnson's Life of Savage, originally published anonymously in 1744. Savage's literary fame would be widely overshadowed by a murder conviction in 1727, after he stabbed both a maid and one James Sinclair during a brawl in a coffeehouse.
