CHELMSFORD PRINTING

[A COUNTRY CLERGYMAN]. A country clergyman's observations upon some letters Which have been addressed to him, in reply to a pamphlet, entitled, reasons for not attending the British & Foreign Bible Society.

Chelmsford. Printed and sold by R. C. Stanes and Co., [1812]. First edition.
8vo. 46pp. Uncut and unopened. Stitched, as issued. Title page and verso of terminal leaf a trifle dusty.
The second institutionally located copy of a provincially published pamphlet riposte, by an unidentified parochial clergyman, issued in response to five publications which had castigated the anonymous author's earlier pamphlet Reasons for not attending the British & Foreign Bible Society, in a letter to N. Vansittart Esq. (Chelmsford, 1812); a measured work which had argued that the Society were potentially damaging the spiritual education of children by providing them with Bibles without means for them to properly understand scripture.

Not in OCLC; COPAC records a single copy (held with Reasons for not attending the British & Foreign Bible Society), at the British Library.
