A religious tract by Catholic priest of the Jesuit Order Robert Southwell (1561-1595), later arrested and charged with treason for his clandestine missionary work. Going through ten editions by 1636, Mary Magdalen's Funeral Tears gained recognition beyond Catholic circles, heavily influencing Thomas Nashe's satirical pamphlet Christ's Tears Over Jerusalem, which landed said author in Newgate.
