The first edition of a guide to gun maintenance and marksmanship by British gunmaker Charles William Lancaster (1820-1878), featuring a range of illustrations both for technical reference and aesthetic supplement. Lancaster, an innovator in rifle and cannon development, would pioneer the idea of the oval bore as the established form for both weapons.
