Memoirs from 1754 to 1758.
London.
John Murray, 1821.
First edition.
Quarto.
[3], vi-xxiii, [1], 176pp. Without half-title. With an engraved portrait frontispiece. Contemporary half-calf, tooled in gilt and blind, marbled paper boards, contrasting red morocco lettering-piece. Rubbed, lightly marked, spine dulled. Scattered spotting.
The first edition of the selected memoirs of James Waldegrave, second Earl Waldegrave (1715-1763), one of the shortest-serving Prime Ministers of Britain. Waldegrave's memoirs, considered important in the record and development of Whig history, grant his period as First Lord of the Treasury a good deal more significance.
