The first edition of a pamphlet recounting the political and military activities of British Army officer John Campbell, second Duke of Argyll (1680-1743) between 1736 and 1740. Promoted to Field Marshal on 31st January 1735, Campbell would be dismissed from office in 1740 after giving an impassioned speech against the government, which is transcribed in the rear of this volume.
