A Scottish edition, printed in Glasgow, of collected Socratic dialogues by pupil of Socrates, Xenophon. Serving as a personal defence of his mentor, Xenophon's Socrates would be influential on ancient cynicism, as well as the teachings of the Stoics. Alongside Plato and Aristophanes, Xenophon is one of only a few contemporaries of Socrates whose writings on the philosopher remain.
