The final published work of William Beloe (1756-1817), English divine and miscellaneous writer, published immediately after his death under the editorship of Thomas Rennell. The memoir would cause uproar, being criticised by Dr. Butler of Shrewsbury school and the Rev. Samuel Parr - the latter being Beloe's mentor, who was substantially critiqued within its pages.
