A limited facsimile reprint of Shelley's political long poem The Masque of Anarchy, published for the Shelley Society. Written in 1819, and first published in 1832, Shelley's famous treatise on non-violent resistance was prompted by the Peterloo Massacre.
Edited by T. J. Wise (1859-1937), notorious book collector and forger. Wise forged and published many other works by the poet, including his first fraudulent publication, a collection of Shelley's work titled Poems and Sonnets, and a facsimile of Hellas.
