The sole edition, in original unsophisticated state, of philosopher, jurist, and reformer Jeremy Bentham's (1748-1832) critique of a draft penal code prepared by the Cortes Generales during the Trienio Liberal, which member José Maria Queipo de Llano Ruiz de Saravia, conde de Toreno (1786-1843) - recently returned from exile in order to serve the revolutionary parliament - had sent to Bentham for review.
