A professional bookbinder for over seventy years, Maureen Duke (1929-2018) apprenticed under William Matthews at Guildford College of Art. She worked as a professional bookbinder until 1978, when she returned to Guildford to take up a teaching position an established a two-year diploma course. In 2017 Duke received a British Empire Medal for services to the craft.
