The sole edition of a collection of notices on the history of Glasgow, many initially printed at intervals in the Glasgow Herald, by Glaswegian judge and sometime sheriff-substitute of Perthshire Hugh Barclay (1779-1884).
The author's recollections include memories of his university days, Glasgow prison, the Andersonian and Mechanics' Institutions, and, more morbidly, 'The Resurrectionists, of Body Snatchers'.
