The entire output, with impeccable provenance, of the short- lived Iona Club, a learned antiquarian society devoted to investigating and illustrating 'the History, Antiquities, and early Literature of the Highlands of Scotland'. The Duke of Argyll was elected President, William Forbes Skene as Treasurer, Donald Gregory as General Secretary and John Morison as Resident Gaelic Secretary. In addition to a tremendously well qualified group of councillors (including Laing, Robertson and Pitcairn), a separate 'Gaelic Committee' included Revs. Norman Macleod, Thomas Ross and Macintosh Mackay.
