8vo. xxii, 394pp, lxxii, [8]. Title page in red and black. With engraved portrait frontispiece and three terminal leaves of sheet music. Contemporary burgundy velvet, with elaborate brass furniture to board corners, and central brass roundel to upper and lower board with armorial device. Wine-red moire silk endpapers, gauffered edges. Worn, with velvet lost to spine and upper board, exposing cloth beneath. Endpapers slightly soiled, browning and spotting to initial leaves.
The third edition, elaborately bound with brass furniture, of English Catholic priest and writer Frederick Charles Husenbeth's (1796-1872) arrangement of the Vespers Book, including the sheet music for accompanying Gregorian chants.
