An apparently unrecorded broadside printing testimonials received in favour of Alexander Mitchell's (1884) application for the position of Chief Constable of the County of Northumberland, having served for six years as Superintendent of the River Tweed Police - a private law enforcement organisation of water bailiffs which enforced fishery laws. Mitchell's application was unsuccessful, though in 1859 he succeeded to the office of Chief Constable of Caithness.
