Original publisher's blind-decorated green cloth, lettered in gilt. Lightly rubbed and marked. With an inked inscription to head of FFEP: 'George Berringer Scilly. Septr. 1887'.
The second edition of an illustrated guide to the Isles of Scilly by father and son authors J. C. and R. W. Tonkin - notably, the first edition of any guidebook to mention the recently photographed 'Troy Town' labyrinth of St. Agnes. J. C. Tonkin would publish a further guide to the Isles of Scilly alongside one Prescott Row in 1910, titled Lyonnesse: The Isles of Scilly. A Handbook for Visitors and Residents - 'Lyonnesse', here, refers to a ancient strip of land stretching from the tip of Cornwall to the Scilly Isles mentioned in Arthurian legend.
