Bound by Maclehose of Glasgow in twentieth century green half-morocco, marbled paper boards, lettered in gilt to spine. Marbled endpapers, lightly rubbed and marked, spine slightly discoloured. Very slight spotting throughout.
The sole edition of a 'sketch' of Glasgow by James Pagan (1811-1870), Scottish reporter and managing editor for the Glasgow Herald. An enthusiastic antiquarian, Pagan collected the material used in this volume and his later work, Glasgow Past and Present (1851) whilst working as a reporter.
