An eminently coherent sammelband of nine pamphlets - all either decidedly rare or entirely unrecorded, and many provincially published presentation copies - concerning the history and antiquities of Cumbria.
The pamphlets were once the property of dialectologist and historian (at least in an amateur capacity) Frank Warriner, whose survey of Cumberland place names is contained within. Biographical details for Warriner are scant; besides contributing to the Transactions of the Yorkshire Dialect Society, he published A Cumberland dialect reciter (London, 1925) and The Millom District. A history (Millom, 1932).
