The first edition of a history of Glasgow by local Robert Stuart, accompanied by a selection of intricate illustrations of the city past and present. Stuart notes in the introduction that the field of Glasgow's local antiquities is 'somewhat barren', expressing his hopes that this volume will be 'nevertheless rich' in its depiction of 'the first struggles of an enterprising community'.
