Contemporary straight-grain morocco-backed burgundy cloth boards, tooled and lettered in gilt to spine, with supralibros of the Elder family to upper board and the Arms of Govan to lower board. Marbled endpapers. Lightly rubbed and marked. Ink-stamp of Arch. Houtcheson to foot of FFEP and half-title. Light scattered spotting throughout.
The limited first edition, printed for private circulation, of Knight Chairman of Glasgow Unionist Association Sir Archibald Craig's (d. 1927) account of the construction and opening of Elder Park, Govan, Southwest Glasgow. Gifted to the public by Isabelle Elder, the poem 'Rab the Rivetter' was composed for the park's grand unveiling. Attached to the narrative are two biographies of David and John Elder, presented with historical sketches of Govan.
