A trifle rubbed. Light scattered spotting and occasional marking throughout. Inked ownership inscription of 'Macgeorge' to FFEP, and presentation inscription 'to John Macgeorge with affte. regards from A Macgeorge'.
A presentation copy of the first edition, printed for private circulation, of a study on Glaswegian heraldry by antiquarian writer Andrew MacGeorge (1810-1891). An ecclesiastical lawyer, MacGeorge was also an amateur caricaturist, with work commended by Thackeray. This work on local history reflects his interest in preserving Scottish heritage, having contributed greatly to the Archaeological Society of Glasgow.
