An entirely unrecorded broadside extra issued by the Sindian Press - an English bi-weekly periodical established Karachi in 1852 - reporting civil unrest in the Nuggur Parkur Districts. The report relates that 'insurgent Coolies' had been detained by 'gallant' British armed forces following their systematic destruction of nearly 100 miles of telegraph line in May of 1859. The motives of the insurgents were, at the time of going to press, uncertain: 'Colonel Evans in now engaged in a strict inquiry into the causes of the outbreak, on the result of which it would be premature to speculate, one thing is evident is that the Thakoors had designs beyond the redress of some local and temporary grievance, and that had no the insurrection been so properly suppressed, it would have developed itself into much more serious dimensions'.
