A series of poetic compositions inspired by the contents of the picture gallery at the Althorp Estate, West Northamptonshire, home of the Spencer family. The anonymous author, identifying herself solely as 'A Lady', has been identified as a Mrs Mary J. Jourdan, of whom little is known. The volume is inscribed to Lady Peel, presumably Julia, Lady Peel (1795-1859), wife of British Prime Minister Robert Peel.
