An early nineteenth century edition of Hannah More's (1745-1833) remarkably popular poetic, pedagogical, adaptation of Old Testament tales for a juvenile readership, including 'Moses in the Bulrushes', 'David and Goliath', and 'Daniel'. First published in 1782, the work contributed to Samuel Johnson dubbing the author the most 'powerful versificatrix in the English language'.
