An anonymously published sketch of the character of Napoleon III, Emperor of France, by Irish barrister Charles Phillips (1787?-1859), delivered in the form of a satirical elegy. A strong supporter of Catholic emancipation, Phillips' 'florid' rhetorical style earned him ire from the bar, but credence with the jury.
