An abstract of the lectures of jurist and legal scholar William Blackstone (1723-1780) delivered during his tenure as Vinerian professor of law at Oxford, beginning in 1753. First published anonymously in 1756, the Analysis was the schema upon which Blackstone developed his highly influential magnum opus, Commentaries on the Laws of England (Oxford, 1765-1769). The first three editions, including this volume's third edition run, sold out their individual print-runs of 1000 copies expeditiously.
