A late comedy by Irish actor and dramatist John O'Keeffe (1747-1833), first performed 'with universal applause' at the Theatre Royal, Covent Garden. Celebrated today for his much revived comedy, Wild Oats (1791), O'Keeffe's loss of sight in his thirties required that his later compositions be dictated aloud and transcribed.
