The first edition of a collection of short hymns and addresses, bound together as issued, by British preacher and hymnstress Geraldine Dening (1841-1872), acclaimed more significantly under her maiden name, Geraldine Hooper. A well-known preacher in the 1860s, with a style said to resemble Scottish Evangelical Jessie Macfarlane (1843-1871), her voice was known to draw crowds of thousands; a witness to her Luton meetings noted that despite her musical talents and national renown, 'The chief impression, however, which she created was that she was animated simply by one desire, - to do good.'
