The first edition of a tract submitted to the Archbishop of Canterbury by the minor canons of Canterbury's cathedral, among them William Bennett (1766-1852), John Metcalfe and Joshua Stratton, requesting the allowance for minor canons to hold the benefice of Aylsham, being within 24 miles of the City of Canterbury. The original letter is accompanied by a subsequent series of correspondence between the Dean and Chapter and the authors, in which the request of the canons is firmly denied.
