The second edition of a collection of correspondence between three subjects, the eponymous, anonymous 'civis', which may be a pseudonym for the volume's author and second correspondent, Charles Valentine Le Grice (1773–1858), and churchman William Carus Wilson (1791-1859). The letters concern 'church subjects', written from an Anglican Protestant perspective, and were almost entirely originally published in Cornish newspaper the West Briton.
