A short study on the influence of several Yorkshire schools on the writing of Dickens' third novel, Nicholas Nickleby (1838-39), which exposed the neglectful conditions of the Bowes Hall Academy, Greta Bridge, and numerous similar institutions across the county. The work was compiled by Dorset literary critic, poet, and historian Cumberland Clark (1862-1941), who has in recent years garnered a reputation for his devotion to doggerel, being recognised in numerous publications as one of the worst poets in the English language.
