A handsomely bound edition of the collected plays of politician and playwright Richard Brinsley Sheridan (1751-1816). The compilation begins with his famously-revised comedy The Rivals, which opened to universal disdain; in a staunch display of the author's diligence, the drama reopened to significant acclaim just ten days later, with a remarkably transformed script, and has remained a standard of English theatre ever since.
