Founded in 1795 by Welsh Congregationalist minister Edward Williams (1750-1813), the London Missionary Society promoted interdenominational cooperation to facilitate effective global evangelisation, particularly in the South Seas, China, and India. The Society continued to operate until its dissolution in 1966.
