A response providing opinions concerning the resignation of Philip Dormer Stanhope, Earl of Chesterfield (1694-1773) as an ambassador for England; his having served in both Ireland and the Netherlands. Chesterfield, following a letter to David Mallet in which he deliberated the explanations that would be offered for his resignation, found himself the focus of a brief pamphlet war; with An Apology for a Late Resignation championing Chesterfield's side, the present work aligning against him, and An Impartial Review providing a non-biased viewpoint.
