A coherent sammelband of four scarce political pamphlets by William Holmes (fl. 1785-1802), of whom little is known. The Critical Review (Vol. XXX), in an article critiquing the first mentioned work, both described Holmes as a 'very obscure author' and pilloried his prose, citing their 'uncertainty respecting the author's meaning' and 'his very inverted incomprehensible style'.

Allan Heywood Bright (1862-1941), Liberal politician, notable for his opposition towards the Boer War.

ESTC records copies of the first mentioned work at three locations in the British Isles (BL, Exeter, and Oxford), and one further copy worldwide (NLA).

The fourth mentioned work is recorded at two British locations (BL and Senate House), and one in North America (Pennsylvania).

The second and third mentioned works are apparently unrecorded.
