An argument Concerning the militia.
[London].
[s.n.], [1762].
First edition.
Quarto.
19pp, [1]. Uncut. Stitched, as issued. Lightly spotted, some damp-staining to final two leaves, short tear to fore-edge of final leaf.
The first edition, in original state, of politician Sir George Savile's (1726-1784) remarks on the recruitment, enlisting, and maintenance of militia forces (published shortly after his appointment as colonel of the first battalion of the West Riding militia); no doubt influenced by the continuing conflicts of the Seven Years' War and the newly begun Anglo-Spanish War.
