The first edition of the military service memoirs of George Samuel Parsons (d. 1854). The work was published in Boston where Parsons' had found himself having survived shipwreck whilst serving as an Admiralty Agent on board a contract mail steam-vessel. The account records his service during the War of the Third Coalition, in particular as a midshipman at the Battle of St. Vincent in 1797, and as a signal-midshipman under Nelson aboard the HMS Foudroyant.
