Uncut and unopened in original publisher's blue cloth-backed grey paper boards, lettered in gilt. Without glassine wrapper or slipcase. A trifle rubbed and bumped. Internally clean and crisp. Inked gift inscription beneath limitation statement: 'and is for / Daisy Kennedy / with the author's / dear love / January 1931'.
The first edition of poet and playwright John Drinkwater's (1882-1937) poems on the American Civil War. The present copy was inscribed by Drinkwater to his future wife, Australian-born concert violinist Daisy Kennedy (1893-1981).
