The 1831 issue of this astronomical almanac, published between 1814 and 1834. A tradition begun in the Middle Ages, the collation of almanacks to record Saints' Days, holidays and the dates of Lent and Easter was originally performed by monasteries. This Nineteenth-Century periodical contains an additional list of astronomical occurrences, alongside a 'Naturalist's Diary', interspersed with a selection of contemporary poetry. Interestingly, the 'existing and obsolete' rites and rituals of each Saints Day and holiday within are recorded - apparently a later addition to the almanac's format.
