[ALMANACK]. Time's telescope for 1814.

London. Printed for Sherwood, Neely and Jones, 1814. First edition.
8vo. xxxvi, 370pp. With a handful of in-text illustrations. Modern red cloth boards, lettered in gilt to spine. Leaves browned, scattered spotting.
The first issue of this astronomical almanac, published between 1814 and 1834. A tradition begun in the Middle Ages, the collation of almanacks to record Saints' Days, holidays and the dates of Lent and Easter was originally performed by monasteries. This Nineteenth-Century periodical contains additional astronomical observations, including a 'popular view' of the solar system as it was then understood, alongside a 'Naturalist's Diary', and a selection of meteorological speculation.
